How to write a phone greeting that works

Lead with your business name. “Thank you for calling Acme Plumbing.” Callers want to know they dialed the right number.
Keep it under 15 seconds. Long welcomes make people hang up or press 0.
Say the option before the key. “For billing, press 2” — callers listen for what they need, then the number.
Four menu options or fewer, with the most common reason first.
Spell out what the voice should say: “eight A M” instead of “8am”, “dot com” for websites.
